"As soon as you begin to listen to this album, the title - 'Folding in on itself' slowly begins to unravel its meaning, where the outside world and the inner studio sanctuary, are stitched together with catgut and silk. The universal sounds of a living city are witnessed and documented, evoking locations which are both anonymous and personal. Honig's use of longing tones, ambient textures and muted rhythms, recall the work of Jan Jelinek, Philip Jeck and GAS, and sits as a fitting edition to the Type catalogue.

In the track 'Ancestry Revisiting Each Other' Janet Cardiff's audio walks are referenced, in which a microphone is taken through the streets of New York, with the pulse of the protagonist's breath, and the accents of his feet scuffing on the pavement, are met with someone whistling, a snippet of a conversation, and the drones of cars going by. This 'walk' through the city, is accompanied by the melodic wanderings of hazy chords, slowly layering on top of each other, at times giving the listener moments of clarity where the repeated chords sync together with the rhythm of footsteps, creating a composition of constructed chaos. A more structured and song like approach is taken in the track 'Between Bridges', where a muted electronic beat is meet with vocal snippets extracted to form rhythmic interjections, with the anonymous found sounds creating their own punctuation. These metrical patterns are accompanied by warm minimal chords making up a verse/ chorus arrangement, creating an aesthetic that perfectly balances between electronic and the acoustic.

This is an album that is a fragile work of melancholic nostalgia, inviting the outside listener into the personal inner world of the artist, creating a place to sit and listen."
