The hotly-tipped Dutch dance phenomenon Ctrls makes his debut on DJ Stingray’s Micron Audio label (in fact it’s their first release with an outside artist) with a tightly-wound EP of crunchy acid and electro. Inspired in part by society’s creeping surge towards automation, Your Data embraces a certain nihilism in its pursuit of sinister contemporary electro sound. Ctrls’ industrial tinged sound design and embrace of digital degradation feels an awful lot like the sound of a dark future, and it feels like an information overload too, in the best way possible.
