It’s been 25 years since µ-Ziq dropped Lunatic Harness and still very little else has sounded like it since. 1997 was indeed a great year for the Planet Mu head and he’s had plenty more since then too. Between his own releases and the tremendous run of classics on the label, Mike Paradinas has had an influential hand in shaping contemporary electronic music and he’s been doing it for over four decades.

While putting together the extensive 25th anniversary edition of Lunatic Harness, µ-Ziq found himself concurrently working on new music inspired by the sounds he was chasing back then like jungle and its precursor jungle tekno. This Goodbye EP is the first of several releases planned for this year to come from that fertile period, and you can be assured it bangs with all the strength of those early 90’s cuts. With the added benefit of contemporary software and technology as well as a hall of fame run of experience under the belt, Goodbye EP sees µ-Ziq attack old genres he helped define with ferocity and tunefulness in equal measure. Check the way he pairs maudlin pianos with in-the-red amen breaks on the title track for proof: this is jungle done right from a master of the craft.
