Four years on from his last solo outing Shadows of Death and Desire, Juan Mendez AKA Silent Servant returns to L.I.E.S. with an EP made for dark and stormy nights. Optimistic Decay is a “pure electric” rush, with hard and fast beats that drum on the cranium. The legendary Stephen Mallinder of Cabaret Voltaire features on the opening ‘Cyber Luminescence’, his staccato lyrics describing a dystopian future of corporeal disconnection that is made audible by the lofi wallops and thundering synths of Silent Servant’s haunted electro rhythms.
