A Plastikman and Chilly Gonzales collaboration? Yes, you heard us right. And it’s all been produced by none other than Tiga! Consumed In Key is a reimagining of Richie Hawtin’s influential 1998 minimal, stripped-back techno album Consumed, under the Plastikman moniker. After its 20th anniversary, Gonzales was invited to compose accompanying piano pieces for each of the tracks and he sent them to Tiga, with Hawtin arranging the music as a kind of sonic conversation between the two artists. The result is the amalgamation of two artists’ styles that are unexpectedly complimentary; a deep throbbing techno pulse, restrained and lengthy in a satisfying prolonged jam alongside pared-down piano with improvisational tinges. This is something quite out of the blue, but also quite out of the ordinary - and we implore you to give it a listen.
