New York’s Earthen Sea returns to Kranky for a third time with his latest LP entitled Ghost Poems. Created during lockdown in the early stages of the pandemic, Ghost Poems is an effectual tribute to domesticity and solitude. Arranged from little but tender piano noodles, household appliances, and the ambient sound of an otherwise empty room, this is music that’s fairly delicate to the ears, but still rich with emotion. The sampled percussive elements on ‘Stolen Time’ and ‘Rough Air’ center solemn chord progressions that seem to engage with the world’s response to the times.
