We get rather excited at the news of a Ghost Box release, especially when it's from Trunk records founder / curator, Jonny Trunk. Tweaking the the patch-bay and weaving in a tapestry of samples from his vast reserve of library, soundtrack and other bizarrely antiquated records. Both tracks 'Le Train Phantome' and 'So It Shall Be' take the sampling creativity of, say, DJ Shadow, run alongside the sparse, haunting production-style of Joe Meek; obviously, Trunk's love of the Radiophonic Workshop is apparent in the curious, modulating effects. An essential object of wonderment and a perfect addition to Ghost Box's coveted 'Study Series'.
