"Toppling expectation, this eagerly-awaited 6th studio album from Mike Dehnert delivers an uncompromising matrix of raw, fibrous techno, born from first hand experiences of working the dancefloors of such stalwarts as Berghain and Tresor. 'Framework' pulls no punches in letting you know where the focus of the album lies; from the unsettling atmosphere of the unequivocally-titled opener, 'Intro', the drama of these kinetically-propelled rhythms ensue and any previsions of techno-by-numbers are quickly shunned. Nine tracks of masterfully produced, prime-time, yet very sophisticated dancefloor-focussed tracks gallop and momentarily pause for breath in beatless themes such as, 'Kontextfrei', and the chilling coda, 'Outro'. One for Surgeon and Scuba fans alike, 'Framework', works rhythm and production in a such an exhilarating fashion; taking the nebulous dub reference of the likes of Basic Channel / Chain Reaction and cladding it around steely, yet very liquid, syncopated beats. To-the-point without being unsubtle, each track has a purpose and does so efficiently; nothing is surplus to requirements, yet it's sparse embodiment is wholly fulfilling. This Delsin records debut makes for an engaging experience and confirms Dehnert as one of contemporary techno's most exciting, current incumbents."
