Influential in the development of various modern electronic music subgenres, Jan Jelinek released the run of EPs dubbed the CMYK series (1999 to 2002) under the Farben moniker. Jelinek produced the tracks with the aim of making music for the dancefloor, but interestingly its listenership didn’t engage with it within this context - instead, these four EPs came to define and also outrun the microhouse genre, and the CMYK series’ legacy lives on with a much more powerful legacy as a result. Collected together for the first time on a double LP via Jelinek’s own Faitiche imprint, a key DNA strand in modern electronic music gets the royal treatment it deserves.
