On their 3rd release Well Rounded bring you the imaginative and playful funky-influenced house sound of Hackman. This EP is packed with punchy & polished productions and adventurous arrangements. We have curated 3 tracks that we feel demonstrate the breadth and potential of this exciting young producer based in Leeds, England. On the A 'Bodies' is an ecstatic piano-driven belter with immediate appeal. The 4/4 drums drive hard, funked up with supple bass flexations, then punctuated with classic chords and catchy vocal cut-ups. What sounds simple here is carefully considered. A brilliantly constructed, exciting and peak-time melodic banger! On the flip 'Surround' leads the listener into more tropical terrain. The drum programming on this is fantastic. Cross-rhythms and complexities combine to build an exhilarating groove with real momentum. But that's only half the story! This builds to a change-up of real contrast - all marimba melodies and swung jazzy cymbals. This is what we want - dance music willing to push against the boundaries of the forms and structures whilst not losing overall focus. Beginning with a gorgeous melody, 'Blacksnake' drops into a wickedly percussive groove for the deeper heads. However, snappin' snares push the rhythm forward throughout. Once again, soulful chords significantly change up the vibe before the drop confirming again that Hackman is reaching to produce tracks that push musical content alongside dancefloor appeal.
