50 years after their departure from Throbbing Gristle is as good a time as any to revisit the beguiling catalogue of Chris & Cosey. While the duo’s early experiments certainly bear fruit, some could say Chris & Cosey really came into power during their mid 80’s-early 90’s minimalist era. This new set of reissues on their own Conspiracy International imprint circles seeks to highlight that very point. The Remastered Reissues ‘85 - ’91 series closes with 1991’s Wax Trax issued Pagan Tango LP. As architects of the Wax Trax-indebted industrial sound, Pagan Tango is something of a full circle moment. And yet, Chris & Cosey largely shade away from the more aggro sounds of the era, rejecting hefty rhythmic churn and burnt rubber sonics in favour of a lighter, nearly balearic touch.
