Bleep

Quickly following his solo album 'Multistability' on the constantly brilliant Raster-Noton, Mark Fell (1/2 of SND) now releases UL8 on Editions Mego, another one of Bleep's top ten labels of 2010. Named after the Celestion UL8 speaker, a piece of hardware that was the founding piece of equipment along with an analogue synth and a DR55 drum machine that built up Fell's first electronic experiments, and later explored in his SND collaboration. Fell's fascination with a synthetic aesthetic is clearly heard on this album, with a series of short studies exploring electronic sound. Clipped tones and fluttering textures make it an abstract listen, while the electronic pallet hovers tenuously over the dancefloor.
