Tapes AKA Jackson Bailey and Nikolaienko unveil the second part to their Sunda School series for Tallinn-based label Porridge Bullet. Rich in colourful electronic textures, the EP is hot off the VCR, possessing a lo-fi, domestic energy like that of a forgotten home video. The two artists channel faded, grainy textures in ‘Time With Burnt’ where synths twinkle like sunlight bouncing off of river water, and the complex, distorted arpeggios on ‘Jaaksoni Tamm’ seem to pay homage to an Estonian oak tree. Tapes and Nikolaienko paint idyllic scenes with their synth wizardry and tape loop warmth.
