Franck Vigroux is back with another full length of tense, uncompromisingly maximal electronic music. Collected from a live A/V set of the same name, Vigroux sees the work as an approximation of the kind of “mental manipulation” undertaken by totalitarian regimes. His use of overwhelming, repetitive sonic motifs and structures is meant to reflect the imposition of will. Sonically, Atotal sounds like industrial marching music from a not-so-distant and dystopic future, so mission accomplished.
