Spiritualized frontman J Spaceman spent a lot of time wandering the barren streets of London during the lockdown of 2020. Calling it a “beautiful solitude”, he was totally in his element, and it shows on the band’s latest record Everything Was Beautiful. Orchestral accompaniments and soaring compositions capture the curiosity felt in those empty metropolitan squares, where Spaceman had the world all to himself. Spiralling guitar solos and frenzied wind instruments unfold on ‘The A Song’, while the psychedelic passages of sustained, thick walls of sound that Spiritualized are known for are livelier than ever.
