Ahead of the bands very first Sold Out tour of the USA, Squid are proud to present two reworkings of tracks from their debut album ‘Bright Green Field’, by two of the most ambitious and uncompromising artists around, albeit from very different eras.

Hotly tipped London producer Loraine James finds beauty within the chaos of ‘Narrator’, as she expertly ties together guitar lines under newly amorphous rhythms and pitch shifted vocals to brilliant effect.

Legendary musician, performance artist and writer Cosey Fanni Tutti lends her touch to ‘Global Groove’, and the result is again stripped back, but now it has an undeniable dub flow with distorted guitar notes and feedback crackling out of the speakers alongside the horns which are given a new prominence.

It's no secret we love electronic music and we couldn't be happier with them. Cosey takes you on a dubby voyage to unexplored space with her remix of Global Groove and Lorraine on the flip takes Narrator to even more paranoid heights.”

Cosey Fanni Tutti on her remix: “As soon as I heard the song there were certain sounds that immediately inspired me. But a huge factor in what accepting me to do the remix was the free adventurous and experimental approach to making music which fits so well with how i work. So to be given free reign to do whatever I wanted was brilliant. I got pretty forensic extracting fragments of sound as well as deconstructing, manipulating, sampling adding new sounds and rearranging new tracks... I loved every minute of diving into the world of squid”

Striking the balance between chaos and cohesion, Bright Green Field, the debut album from Squid, throws caution to the wind with its feral experimentation and breakneck urgency - but above all, it delivers on the promise of their legendary live performances; their dynamic, wild and unfettered creativity which has cemented Squid as British music’s revolutionaries.

The record draws not only on a barrel of sonic influences - feverish post-punk to cosmic-jazz, but also a library’s worth of literary references. Every aspect of this record has been precision-engineered to feed into Squid’s carefully considered concepts. Bright Green Field is an album of towering scope and ambition, it is deeply considered, paced and intricately constructed. With all band members playing such a vital and equal role, this album is very much the product of five heads operating as one.
