Parisian producer Sylvere has a wider influence beyond the French capital. After a slew of stellar releases on Trax Couture and Sans Absence, he lands on Monkeytown Records with a bang. EP1 is the latest and greatest instalment of Sylvere’s on-going musical exploration, a sonic style that has quickly become his trademark. The likes of ‘Rez Drums’ and ‘Carnival’ are as informed by rave’s golden age as they are by the rich history of dancehall, managing to sound like a ferociously singular amalgam. Strains of UK funk find their way into the slithering ‘Shellington’, and the results are as forward-facing as they are excellent.
