Ben UFO selects two tracks for Melodies Record Club, a new series of DJ and artist curated mini compilations in loud 12” format. Neither of these two tracks were originally produced with a club setting in mind, but nevertheless they have made appearances across his DJ sets, with ‘Drums’ used in his first BBC essential mix back in 2013 expertly nestled between techno productions.

‘Drums’ is from Laurie Spiegel’s 1980 experimental electronics album “The Expanding Universe” and features a percussive seven minute computer generated workout inspired by Spiegel’s interest in African and Indian music. ‘Echoes From Mamori’ by Olof Dreijer (The Knife/Oni Ayhun) was commissioned by artist Adnan Yildiz for a 2009 exhibition, and was previously released only on CD. Dreijer built the track around arpeggios generated using sounds of frogs recorded in the Amazon and birds around Berlin, fed into a sampler.
