Birmingham’s IDM innovators Higher Intelligence Agency, founded upon the live and legendary improvised electronics of Bobby Bird, finally found a tangible form with 1993’s debut LP Colourform — but only barely. The LP, reissued through Headphones, isa classic of ambient dub, buoyant and luminescent with space age wizard on the likes of ‘Orange’ and ‘M+t=e’, and blissfully reminiscent of the Artificial Intelligence series on the beat-and-bass driven ‘Re-echo’ and ‘Influx’.
