The DEUTSCHE ELEKTRONISCHE MUSIK 2 compilation is an exhaustive labor of love, pairing obscure groups previously lost to time alongside beloved masters like Neu!, Cluster, Faust, and Can. These choice selections look to bridge the gap between the avant-garde, Krautrock, and the European new wave sound that caught fire around the world. Listening through a modern lens, many of these songs don’t venture so far out as to forget the melodies. In fact the anarchist sprawl of groups Amon Duul and Agitation Free could almost be power pop save a few subtle tweaks.
