We had started to worry that Huerco S’ West Mineral Ltd. would suddenly make like its ragged ambient/New Age output and fade into the mists — but if this release is anything to go by, the imprint’s had a re-think within the last year since we last heard from them. Ben Bondy’s Glans Intercum follows in the wake of label heroes Serwed and Mister Water Wet, only with a dark, brooding approach underpinning every synthesised swell, every stumbling industrialised pseudo-break beat. It’s a New Age record for the epoch of uncontrollable forest fires, a set of tundric soundscapes for fast-melting ice caps.
