On Our Own Clock; could there be a more perfect statement for the time-stretching aspect of quarantines and lockdowns? As it happens, the collective who took this name were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, impeding the South African and Senegalese performers from travelling to London, where a jazz album was due to be made. When the album was finally made, it couldn’t help but incorporate the strange circumstances during which it was recorded. On Our Own Clock is a jazz album, yes — but it follows its own experimental rhythm outside of linear time altogether.
