A storied veteran of the German underground and one of today’s foremost thinkers of contemporary classical music; 2X1=4 is a most curious meeting of the minds. Remarkably, F.S.Blumm and Nils Frahm have more in common than you might think. Their collaborative effort sees the duo engage in a dialogue of ideas, and succeed in crafting a complete work that they only could have created together. There’s a hint of classic Lee “Scratch” Perry dub at work across tunes like ‘Presidential Tub’ and ‘Sarah & Eve’, each one raw and tactile with pinging delay, while in other places drones run free, such as the scorched and vaguely elegiac ‘Desert Mule’.
