Ever the enthusiasts of strange, anachronistic sounds ranging from early synth ‘library music’ to the deeply hauntological expanses of old media, it’s no surprise that Ghost Box welcome back ToiToiToi for his second outing on the imprint. Named after an old German word related to vagrants and vagabonds, Vaganten comes in like a Chaucer story set to a synthesiser, as ToiToiToi crafts bizarre waltzes, folk dances and all manner of medieval studies with kitsch electronics, sampled debris and a vague air of the Middle Ages. Surely, this is the most intriguing continuation of the bardic tradition.
