Bleep

The debut album from Berlin via Istanbul producer Nene H is a heavy one. Ali shows the processing of grief through dark atmospherics, with razorlike synths pushing and pulling through extended explorations while a hard beat sneaks up on them. Hardcore and industrial textures are felt in the intense, lasering kicks, snaps, and claps, offset by slow tides of solitary vocals. The drums and winds of ‘Lament’ pace patiently, drawing in a pummelling techno rhythm, while ‘How We Say Goodbye’ leads out with pulsing blips, ringing tones, and distant vocals in an anxious abstract collage.
