With personnel like this, you know that you’re in for something singular — and as it happens, this release is unique among each player’s individual output. Synthesist legend Suzanne Ciani, Demdike Stare’s Sean Canty and musician/Finders Keepers Records co-founder Andy Votel are renowned for chasing the heights of electronic music, but 241014 is a much more menacing expedition to plumb the depths. What springs to mind during the longform dirges and shadowy dark ambient soundscapes of this record is more akin to DIY industrial tapes and European electroacoustic modernism, being fed through an almost dub-like sensibility for gaping, cavernous space.
