London label Future Massive presents Unknown Structure, the latest EP from long standing electro artist Plant43. Releasing records since 2005 but active in the scene for a whole lot longer, they’ve penned tracks for Central Processing Unit, Ai Records, Semantica and a whole host of others alongside their own Plant43 imprint.

‘Hearts Beat In Silence’ is smooth, clean electro at its purest - steady drum machine programming, glittering arp patterns and pining melodies and sweeps push it along in unhurried fashion. ‘Flickering Neon’ takes a more subdued and dusky approach to electro - the twinkling motifs are there, bedded in amongst reverb washed drums and chord swells. The title track is altogether more emotive and wistful, with melancholic synth patterns moving in unison. ‘Slowburn Storms’ ups the tempo with a half-step, minimal dnb break peppering its ghostly atmospherics, with soft reese snarls conjuring up early dBridge at his most contemplative. ‘Cloud Monolith’ takes the lifeblood of the EP, with its gently automated arpeggios and skyline pads, and casts them free in a space-echo laden beatless number to sign off. It’s a suitably open-ended closer very much in cohesion with the EP as a whole.

All in all, clean and classic electro for the deeper and more reflective moments of a set.
