Fused together by a mutual love for a 1980s disco track playing on the radio at their shared place of work — a café in Oakland, California — Anya and Izaak aka Loveshadow certainly emulate the wispiness of gated reverb drums, MIDI synth grooves and Sade-esque sense of sultry glamour. Loveshadow is perfect city pop, the kind of album you might’ve heard through a car cassette player sometime in 1987.
