James Clements aka ASC (and countless other monikers) is one of the most prolific hard-workers in electronic music — and we use the term loosely, given his noted predilection for genres spanning ambient, drone and drum & bass — but where this 12” is concerned, he’s occupied with the spirit of breakbeat. Both these tracks are long-form exercises in rib-rattling drum programming, two extended odes to pure velocity. ‘Slow Down’ does anything but, its unstoppable beat careening far and deep into adornments of shimmering pads and swooshes. Finding a fitting home on 2 Bad Mice's recently minted Over/Shadow imprint - a direct descendent of the legendary Moving Shadow pushing forward the sound it helped create.
