It’s not every day that your group goes on hiatus and the fond memories still linger long after the fact. A full five years after their final show (and fifteen years since their debut EP), revolutionary Portuguese troupe Buraka Som Sistema finally put that momentous and legendary night at Globaile, Lisbon to wax for the rest of us latecomers to hear. Buraka 4 Ever is a non-stop party of electric kuduro rhythms and gang-chanted vocals, featuring scene favourites like ‘Stoopid’, ‘Kalemba’ and ‘Sound of Kuduro’. It’s easy to hear how Buraka set the stage for the dance music innovation that would come out of Lisbon years thereafter.
