Bleep

The word ‘escapades’ denotes a parade of mischievous extracurriculars — which in part explains Gaspard Augé’s approach to this album. But Augé’s solo affair away from his day job with French house darlings Justice will at least sound familiar to fans of his dancefloor-bothering main output. The sequencers are beefy, the grooves are infectious and the vibe is interminably ascendent. On the other hand, the producer/DJ finds a fresh new take on club music via the grandiosity of classical music and soundtrack works, making the likes of ‘Force majeure’ and ‘Hey!’ sounds like vintage disco cuts as imagined by a score writer, conceived just as he was abducted by aliens straight out of a pulpy sci-fi novel.
