Soul Jazz Records return to the dark well of homegrown synths and stuttering drum programming for the second installation of their Cold Wave series. Each of the artists presented here has a direct lineage to the early European movement which gave us lo-fi tech, underground fanzines and a ferocious DIY approach to creating not-quite dance music, not-quite post-punk. Maniacal sequenced bass and crisp-dried drum machines propel the likes of L.F.T., De Ambassade and Broken English Club, while Job Sifre and Toulouse Low Trax give the 12” edit vibe with their 9-plus-minute cuts of pure industrial techno-twinged chaos.
