Cheltenham’s Byrd Out play unwitting hosts to a scarily potent set of earth-shattering, locust-bringing, plague-inducing industrial techno nightmares from Slikback. The Kenyan producer — who surely gets no sleep judging by his digital-only output — lands on wax with two tasty morsels for anyone with ZULI or the Nyege Nyege cohort on their taste buds. ‘Quoios’ fragments kuduro rhythms and jarring yells into auditory claustrophobia, while the marching skitters of ‘Klout’ invent a most terrifying form of club revelry rivaled only by a bacchanalian free-for-all. The flip-side sees the jagged materials rearranged into dubbed-out renditions, but don’t go trying to chill out to them.
