Strut continue their excellent mining of the New York no-wave/disco counterculture, circa 71-85 with this retrospective of producer Bob Blank and his infamous studio. The fevered, generic cross-pollination of NYC during this period is evident for all to see; soul diva Gladys knight, Cosmic-jazz hero Sun Ra and punk-chanteuse Lydia Lunch all passed through Blank’s console. His touch is all over the tracks on offer here, a willingness to experiment with the funk, crafting proto-house grooves, electro boogie flavours and narcotic jazz.
