Pleasant Valley, Canada native in Berlin PVAS lands the mysterious XPQ? imprint with a label-faithful disc of shadowy machine music. Beset by emotive-critical meditations on the internet in all its barbed glory, PVAS traces out dub-infused minimal techno using a mixture of automated means and homemade software. ‘~~~~ (Laid-Back Rave)’ just about sums up the atmosphere of this one, a deep chest-thumper interspersed with gnawing metallic swooshes and whirrs.
