CD finally available. Los Angeles on fire once more with this sumptuous record from Ryan York/Asura on the newly forged Non Projects imprint... LA it maybe but it shares only a fraction of sonic DNA with that city's Brainfeeder scene; the occasional , clipped hip-hop beat, the digital synth strobe, like Nosaj Thing passed through a filter. Elsewhere he manages to squeeze out lo-fidelity Boards of Canada electronic-psych, clattering ambient-field recordings, technicolour samplsim and bubbling techno-washes. A eclectic work that is genuinely surprising.
