Bleep

On the face of it, Wildflower are a jazz trio with a classic set up; nothing but drums, bass and sax. But the project summons the energy and poise of a particularly accomplished soloist, a true testament to moving as a unit. Better Times has a simple enough approach — four tracks invoking the mood, feel and flavour of their titular colour titles — but the magnetic, conversational broodiness of ‘Blue’ alone makes a case beyond Wildflower’s ‘ones-to-watch’ status.
