DJ and producer Wanton Witch debuts on Stroboscopic Artefacts with a ferocious sonic distillation; of queerness, of Bangkok’s teeming nightlife, of IDM’s shadow history. An ‘outsider’ musician with no formal training, Wanton Witch’s electrostatic landscapes ruthlessly pursue their own interests, building rickety bridges between the rhythmic propulsion of hardcore and a darkened rave anti-euphoria. A cubist dancefloor sensibility unfurls, its protracted beats inviting the throwing of impossible shapes.
