As one of the founders of Freerotation festival with over forty years of hardware tinkering, Steevio is one of the UK electronic music scene’s unsung heroes (his tongue-in-cheek suggestion that he has enough modular cables to reach the moon and back probably isn’t too far from the truth). Acatalepsy is four tracks of free-flowing organic techno jams freshly carved from his modular juggernaut. Opener ‘Tarantism’ is a jaunty, unpredictable wave jam, followed by the stripped melodic techno of ‘Cynefin’. ‘Oxytocin’ is all stepping drum machines and inquisitive synth motifs, with ‘Intonation’ closing with subtly tribal drums and gorgeously filtered chords.
