Wisdom Teeth seek out the elusive Iglew for a stunning EP, his first in 6 years. ‘Caffeine Dream’ conjures up Planet Mu’s forays into hybrid dubstep and eskibeat, peppered with synth flourishes. ‘Gold’ is a kind of technicolour, downtempo UK bass track, reduced to warm 808s and filtered chords. ‘Light Armour’ is a shimmering extension of this, with a wonderful musicality leading it. ‘Microfunk Lament’ could also double as the name of the style he’s crafted with its playfully melancholic melodies and neatly curved percussion. ‘Hawksworth Woods’ closes out in cinematic fashion, with Reich-esque chimes and subtly emotive string arrangements.
