A star born out of the indie hip hop scene of the nineties, Appleseed was the second of Aesop Rock’s CD-R-only releases, manufactured and self-distributed by Aesop himself into instant cult classic status. Coming to vinyl for the first time since it was born in 1999, its warm DIY charm feels refreshing in an age of overproduction and glassy hi-hat rolls. Standout track ‘1,000 Deaths’ featuring Blockhead sounds particularly fresh.
