The Scottish-Irish ensemble Island People continue their fruitful collaborative process into further realms of complex-yet-elemental, group-generated ambient music. II picks up where their acclaimed debut left off, the wide expanses of sea spray drones and ominous luminosity weaving in and out of form and abstraction serving as a kind of metaphor — for what? The album remains tentatively mysterious. Perhaps the reams of guitar on ‘Luna’ and the oscillating pre-rhythmic glow of ‘Loneliness Has A Purpose’ are looking towards the horizon, anticipating a paradigm shift.
