Nick Lapien and Robin Koek have been finding a neat synchronicity between techno, dub and ambient for quite some time with their collaborative Artefakt moniker. Days Bygone marks the latest progression of their sonic journey, and the duo have adopted a healthy dose of kosmische into their repertoire of textures. That’s where this EP begins with ‘Cambium’ and ‘Orinocco Basin’; two luscious dives beneath skittering arps and airy drones, with a touch of field recordings for a celestial observer feel. The likes of ‘Iridescence’ and ‘Terraforming’ amp up the percussion a touch, sounding like drum n bass fed through multiple distorting vectors.
