Lifted from almost two decades’ worth of in-between sessions music produced for the SUED imprint but curiously left out of the celebrated Norwegian DJ’s output, Sotofett’s mind-bending braindance prowess shines throughout Noɽ (that’s ‘noolj’ — no, we don’t know either) in strikingly consistent fashion. Pre-dating any of the Sex Tags stuff, this disc of scattered, off-centre grooves, each track frequently created on a single piece of hardware, tread across some ethereal Aphex-ish acid territory, nicely blending a hardened rhythmic sense with an overall ambient vibe. It’s light and breezy at one end, and at just the right temperature for hi-octane mash-heads at the other.
