Dusty, woozy neo-soul from Londoner sitting comfortably, somewhere between Cleo Sol, Fatima’s outings with Floating Points and the dope low slung instrumentals of Sub Luna City, Pisces Problems marks another strong step as TYSON quietly blazes her own trail. As Neneh Cherry’s daughter, the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree in terms of inheriting her dulcet tones. Production comes from Oscar Scheller with assistance from the mighty Four Tet, as the EP’s six tracks takes in low slung hip-hop, hazy pop and DJ Premier-style uplifting sample flips. Pisces Problems is not without its share of tricks: the boom-bap snares on ‘White’ and glitchy hi-hats on ‘Chemicals’ place a welcome fresh spin on a familiar sound.
