Four Tet kicks off a new series of DJ-curated 12” releases on Melodies International with some big peak-time 1970s jazz classics, each track a frequent drop at his regular Plastic People set. Side one sees Jackie McLean and Michael Carvin go in for some post-Coltrane cacophonies with ‘De I Comahlee Ah’, a fiery and freewheeling blast of sax fury and cracking tub-thumping. Meanwhile, side two goes for more of a late night talk show mood with Chris McGregor’s ‘MRA’, backed by the warm brass of his Brotherhood Of Breath group. It’s a hell of a time!
