AD93 (formerly known as Whities) continues to blaze its bright and unique trail as one of electronic music’s most sonically progressive labels. Vivian Koch delivers the latest addition to its wildly varied discography with Beyond Contact - four tracks of richly layered, futurist club music. Tracks like ‘Lil Birdy Starts to Fly Again’ & ‘Enter’ sound like a cross between Vangelis and Call Super - widescreen synth symphonies punctuated by deconstructed breaks and glitched percussive flourishes. ‘Closed’ comes closest to being a traditional club track with its stepping, punchy drums and dnb-esque LFO bassline, but it’s gaze stays poised skywards with layered galactic pads.
