Hemlock Recordings brings us the On Tilt EP by Beneath - six gloomy bangers precision-engineered for sound systems. The title refers to a poker strategy in which you let your luck guide your decision making, the tension of which Beneath has sought to instill as the life force into each track here. Moving through UK Funky and dubstep inflected rhythms while firmly orbiting around a techno-centric axis, the mood remains austere and monochrome with ghostly melodies flitting in and out. Tracks like ‘The Passage’ take on a trippier hue with floating space debris and delay tails weaving around chunky drums.
