XPQ?555 comes courtesy of Daniel Rincon and Michael Red’s La Fe project, on D. Tiffany and Special Guest DJ’s XPQ label. Recorded over one weekend in Montreal when they also discovered the studio was haunted - they said the lights would flicker in particularly hectic moments. It’s a smoked out take on dembow & reggaeton rhythms which feels like it’s soaked up some of that otherworldly spiritual energy. Landing somewhere between the darker end of DJ Python’s output and a more meditative Kelman Duran, with an altogether more scuffed aesthetic and loosely strung sense of rhythm for the more experimental dancefloors.
