News of UK multi-instrumentalist Lewis Taylor is seldom heard in the years since his last album, 2004’s The Lost Album, but with fresh murmurs of new material on the horizon, there’s no better time to turn to his astounding self-titled debut. Then again, the album is an ideal all-timer of progressive neo-soul, a record fit to burst with ideas, immaculate production and a shrewd experimental virtuosity akin to Marvin Gaye and D’Angelo.
